How does this service work?

Whenever your home phone is busy or you are unavailable your phone company transfers the call to AVC.  AVC then answers the call with your personal greeting which can include up to 3 additional extensions.  The caller can select one of those extensions or leave a message in the main mailbox.  Everybody in your family will receive only their messages.

Do I need to change my home telephone number?

No.  This service will work with ANY telephone provider.

How do I set up this service with my telephone provider?

It is very simple.  All you need to do is ask for "busy or ring no answer" call forwarding on your home telephone number.  In some cases the provider may call it by a different name such as "fixed" call forwarding.  You will have them forward your phone to 401-454-1500 and we will add your home telephone number to our database so we answer the call with your greeting.

How does the menu work and how should we record it?

When you are issued the mailbox you must first initialize the main mailbox.  To do this call 454-1500 from your home telephone and press # plus your temporary password (the last 4 digits of your home phone number).  The system will then walk you through the initialization process.  After it is completed you will be in the main menu where you can select option 4 (personal options) and then option 9 to establish your extension mailboxes.  You will be prompted through the entire set up and we recommend using the standard prompts for each extension and a password of 1111 for extension 1, 2222 for extension 2 and 3333 for extension 3.  When your children log in with these passwords they will go through a similar initialization process as you.  Remember don't forget to record the main greeting with these options or callers will not know how to reach the extensions.  For example you could say, "Thank you for calling the Jones, nobody is home right now.  Please leave a message for Mr. or Mrs. Jones after the tone.  Or if you would like Bobby (your son in high school) press 1, Jennifer (your young daughter) press 2 or Kevin (your 18 year old son at college) press 3."

Can I send messages to my children and can they respond?

Above you might be wondering why you would set up Kevin with an extension if he is at college.  With our service you can send a receive messages with any of your children.  No it is obviously not as good as a telephone conversation but with his busy schedule how often do you ever reach him.  It is also a great way to set up a time to talk or plan the next holiday together.

Do I have to check my messages from my home telephone?

No.  To check your messages simply dial 454-1500 and when the system picks up press #.  It will then ask for your mailbox number which in most cases is your home telephone number, if this is not the case AVC will let you know when you sign up for service.  Then enter your password.

How many extensions can I have?

The mailbox can have 3 extensions plus the main mailbox so a total of 4 people can have private messages.

I have a large family, can we buy more extensions?

Yes.  It will work slightly different from this type of mailbox but AVC can create a menu for as many people as necessary.

How much does this service cost?

AVC charges $9.95 per month per Family Mailbox as well as a one time 25.00 set up fee.

Is there a free trial?

Is there any commitment?
